Short Desciption
Božjakovina is a village about 25 km east of Zagreb on the Vrbovec and Bjelovar road. It had an interesting and eventful past that we can follow from the beginning of the thirteenth century. It began with the Knights Templars and Hospitallers and became turbulent at the time of the Tahys and Zrinskis, when the Turks attacked it. It was administered by the Court Treasury but held longest by the Drašković family (Draskovich), until the end of the nineteenth century when it became state property.
The NEW MANOR (today Božjakovina Manor), which we might sooner call a curia is also from the eighteenth century.
About 800 m north of the New Manor, on the site of the former toll house on the Zagreb-Vrbovec road, stands an eighteenth-century late-Baroque two-storey curia.
